Well today I decided to go on my favourite lunchtime walk. Weather wasn’t brill we had had snow first thing but at least it wasn’t raining. Off I went pockets bulging with my mobile phone (just in case I trip up), camera (so I can show you where I’ve been) and my music so I’d have something to keep me company as I was walking alone. I should have put my muddy walking boots or Wellingtons on (both of which were in the boot of my car) but no I choose to go for a walk in my clean (I cleaned them last Sunday) pink boots.
Keele has some lovely walks. I particularly like the walk along th
e wall garden down the tree lined lane from the Clock House.
It got VERY muddy near the bottom of the lane. There is normally a few buzzards flying around but sadly not today ... probably because I’d got my camera with me!
Then you have to retrace your footprints – or in my case my slip-prints back up the lane and it a UP as it’s a slow incline from the bottom … probably why it was so muddy down there. From there it was a skirt around Keele Hall. I usually take the bottom path but it was f
looded. I waited awhile for my Knight in Shining armour to come along and lay down his cloak for me to walk across but as I’d got only a limited amount of time I decided to turn back and not try and venture across/around the flood … as I could feel a Geraldine Grainger moment coming on. A quick detour around to look at the lakes at Keele to see how they are coming on. They have been doing a lot of work on the lakes and have recently finished a huge project to line the original

The lake had also been dredged and the silt removed so hopefully when it all settles down it will be back to its former glory. At the moment it’s not possible to walk around the edge of the lake so again it was a detour around the back of Keele Hall and the I headed back to my office as lunch was nearly over.

It was a bit hard to calculate how far I walked today on Gmap Pedometre as a lot of it was on paths and “off roading” but I estimate the walk was probably about 1 ½ miles or the time it takes to listen to The Script’s album on my MP3 player.
