100 days of photos

I've been doing my second 365 project now for 100 days and I thought I'd share a collage of the photos taken so far.

Day 1 to Day 100

The winter months are usually the hardest - it's dark when you get up, dark when you get home and then add in the days when it's rained all day and I still have to find something to take a photo of!  I always find something and sometimes those photos turn out to be the most "creative" ones.

So on to the next 100 ...

A collage of the 365 photos I took for my first 365 Project is going into the Three Counties Photography Exhibition which opens towards the end of the month.

Revolution Manchester - Cycling

Had a great night at Revolution last night. Quite a few of the big name sprinters were out, Chris Hoy, Jason Kenny, Matt Crampton. Hoy lost out in the Sprint Semi Final to Jason Kenny but won the Keirin. The team sprint was won by Hoy, Kenny and Crampton.

Loved the Derny racing but the smell of the fumes from the Derny bikes lasted long after the race was finished !

Here are some photos - there a load more on my Facebook page which can be found here

Big Garden Birdwatch

I took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch today. Fed the birds in the garden this morning and then made myself a coffee, got the binnoculars, camera, paper and pen and started "the watch". It was slow to start off with. A couple of sparrows and a robin popped down. I was beginning to think they'd all gone off elsewhere and then it was as if the "party" had started and they all started showing up. A couple of latecomers came just been closing time. I had to check on the Coal Tit and Great Tit on-line cause I'm never too sure about them.

Below is a list of birds that were in my garden between 10.00 - 11.00 am

Blue Tit 2

Westport Lake

I popped down to Westport Lake earlier today. In fact I walked down from home - I usually drive ! It's been a lovely, if a bit frosty morning, so armed with my camera and a bag of bird seed I headed off !

I headed in an anti-clockwise direction around the lake (which seemed a bit strange) but it seemed to flow better off the canal. I went into the Nature Reserve and someone had already been and put seed out and a couple of pears. The feeders were busy and I caught a couple of Willow Tits, Great Tit, Blue Tit and of course the Robin.

I then went for a wander around the lake and saw the Tufted Duck.

A seagull was pointed out to me by a couple down by the visitors centre that was a bit different from the rest. Not sure what type it is (I thought a seagull was a seagull!) and I can’t seem to find it in my book. It’s probably a young bird which makes it more difficult to identify.

There are some more photos here

I tracked my walk on Runkeeper and I did just over four miles. Will definitely be doing this walk again.

My 365 Project

The first 30 days of my new 365 Project. Unfortunately they are not in the correct order - just ordered randomly. Photos and captions can be found on my Facebook page here

Lest we Forget

Today I went to the Remembrance Service and Parade. It was well supported and very moving. The Last Post was played by a school boy. Prayers were said and hymns sung.

Sometime words are not enough so here are some "moments" in photos.

Some of the wreaths and tributes.

Wreaths laid.

A touching moment

New 365 Project

Well today is the 11/11/11 and the start of my new 365 Project. As it was Armistice Day I had hoped for a photo of poppies, so I walked to Keele village to photograph the Cenotaph. Unfortunately there was no wreath and no poppies. Luckily I was wearing a poppy so I took it off and used that.

For those of you that don't know about 365 Projects, the idea is that you take a photo everyday of something. I managed to complete my last 365 Project, let's hope I can do the same with this one. I'm uploading photos of my Facebook and hopefully you'll be able to follow my progress by following this link - My 365 Project
