Lunchtime Walks

Well this week we have been “doing our bit” for our bodies and decided instead of sitting at our desk browsing the web at lunchtime we would get out and about and do some walking. I work in an ideal place for walking and there are many easy and varied routes to take. We used the Gmaps pedometer to plot some routes and to see if we would be able to do them within our lunch hour.

On Monday we did a short route into the local village and then back across the sports fields – a bit muddy across the fields! However we were pleasantly surprised that we had managed 1.4 miles!

Tuesday we took a route we had not done before. We went off down Clock House drive, along Lymes Road which had HUGE puddles and was extremely muddy! However we’d been forewarned about the mud and had gone in suitable footwear – my already muddy boots!
We even managed to identify a flock of lapwings but that was more by fluke than actually knowing. We were definitely out taking in the country air as we had to walk past a huge pile of manure which was “smoking” in places! From Lymes Road it was back into the village and then back to the office which in total was 2 miles.

Wednesday we took one of our regular walks into the village and back through the old entrance which again we were surprised totalled 1.8 miles but it’s all on proper footpaths.

Today we did another new walk which took us out through the new entrance, along the roads into the village and then back to work which worked out at 2.3 miles. Very chilly on this walk especially as some points on the walk was quite open to the elements!

So this week we managed to walk approx 7.5 miles, put loads of colour into our checks, managed to get freezing ears ..... but we have had exercise for free and felt less lethargic in the afternoon so walking is surely better for us than surfing the web.
