Well the weekend came and went. Saturday seemed to be a busy day. Had a mortgage review appointment with the Building Society. My fixed term is not up until the end of March but they had written to me twice in a week asking me “to arrange an appointment” so I thought best to get it sorted. They gave me a list of things to bring along; most recent pay slip, P60, house insurance and the letter said “I might be asked to prove me identity”. Wasn’t sure what to take along for that! I was booked in for an hour so I thought he’d go through lots of options with me! How wrong was I. He spent the first 10 minutes reading all these statements about the Financial Industry. He then briefly went through my mortgage options but seeing that it doesn’t run out until the end of March he couldn’t actually tell me how much I’ll be paying! He kept giving “well it could be” or “just write this down”. I kept trying to ask how I could pay more off the capital but he’d kind of dismiss my questions. In the end about half way through my appointment I asked - will you actually write to me about my mortage. The rest of the appointment was him trying to sell me products. He tried to improve my current house and contents insurance and when he couldn’t tried to tell me that I need as much contents cover as was I already had! Hello, I know how much I want! He wanted me to take out an insurance in case I lost my job ... it would pay my mortgage for 12 months but I couldn’t claim for the first 60 days so basically it covered just 10 months. Then he wanted to sell me an insurance in case I died. I tried to explain that I’m covered through work and the lump sum would pay off the mortgage but he still kept on. Then he wanted to sell me an insurance in case I got one of a list of critical illnesses! So within the hour he talked about me loosing my job, getting ill or even dying! I came out feeling really down and miffed cause they’d never bothered to look at any of the stuff I’d been asked to take with me! He’s going to give me a call in the week to see which insurances I want to take out!
Had my fascia, soffits and guttering replaced! Just the bay window to do now ... oh it looks so much better!
Today I’ve done all the cleaning, tidying, etc. I can’t believe how much dust me and a cat make! For about five minutes I did contemplate cleaning the car but boy was it cold outside, so instead I sorted out six months worth of paperwork. It got shredded, binned or filed. So now all that is in order! Why do we get so much rubbish through the post. You get a bill and a leaflet and sometime a return envelope. So all that had been sorted. Anything confidential or with an address on had to shredded. The rest was binned.
Even found time today to make my own Leek and Potato soup. Not quite as good as New Covent Garden but it was pretty good. Got it for lunch tomorrow as well!
So that was my weekend. Pretty productive actually!
